Crypto Settings

The Crypto Settings tab affects all charts of crypto symbols. Use these settings to control how price and volume data are displayed for cryptocurrencies.

To customize Crypto chart settings:

  1. Make sure the Charts Settings window is open. See Preparation Steps for instructions.
  2. Select the Crypto tab.
  3. Under content select the Price Type to be plotted on the chart:
    • Last: The most recent trade price. This is the default setting.
    • Bid: The highest price that a buyer is currently offering.
    • Ask: The lowest price that a seller is currently accepting.
    • Mark: The midpoint between the bid and ask prices.
Note that Bid, Ask, and Mark price types are only available for intraday charts with time interval not greater than 15 days.
  4. Select Show volume subgraph to display a volume histogram on the chart. Note that volume is displayed for real transactions so that this option is only applicable for the Last price type.
  5. Under Axis, you can activate the Start aggregations at midnight UTC checkbox. This will switch the intraday bar aggregation start and reset times from midnight CT to midnight UTC. This affects how intraday bars are built, for example it will split an intraday bar that contains midnight UTC into two.
Note that this setting only applies to individual crypto symbols and does not affect composite symbols that contain crypto and non-crypto instruments.
  6. Click OK to save your changes and close the settings window. Click Apply to save your changes without closing the window. Click Cancel to close the window without saving any changes. If you want to restore the platform’s original crypto chart settings, click Reset to chart default.

Digital currencies are highly volatile and not backed by any central bank or government. Digital currencies lack many of the regulations and consumer protections that legal-tender currencies and regulated securities have. Due to the high level of risk, investors should view digital currencies as a purely speculative instrument.
